Nebraska Shows the Nation Again

There are some really awesome things about Omaha and the state of the Nebraska. My mother and sister couldn't get over how nice everyone was and loved the city's design and the Old Market's quaint shops and buildings. However, sports is how a lot of cities are identified. Tonight, Omaha set another record for attendance. I'm really proud to say I live in Omaha once again.

Creighton is ranked in the Top 15 in the country for attendance. Nebraska football has sold every home game since forever and has the record for the most consecutive sellouts in NCAA history. No other city in the country could put 20,000+ a game into a baseball stadium for the College World Series. The largest crowd ever to witness a USA Swim meet was in Omaha. The NCAA tournament was one of the quickest to sell out in 2008. And now again, a record for attendance for a volleyball match in US history was inside Qwest Center Omaha watching Nebraska play Penn St.

So let's recap what has happened inside the Qwest Center for attendance: Home to a Top 15 basketball team. Held the largest crowd ever to see a swim meet in the United States. And now, another record for the largest attended volleyball match in US history.

It's 2-1 Penn St. as I write this...win or lose....I'm so proud of Omaha and the state of Nebraska. I don't care if Indy tries to claim the label as the amateur capital....Indy couldn't do what we do when it comes to supporting sports. Omaha is home to best fans in college athletics.
EDIT: Penn St. survives 15-11 in Game 5. 17,400+ were in witness to a tremendous effort. Nice job Ladies....you made Husker fans proud.

All those accodlades might look good on a resume', but other than that? meh... Of course a home town crowd would come out to see a home team event. I hope none of those NU volleyball fans were Creighton fans also, or they'd be on your shit list on the Big Show all day!

I don't get why you are proud of Omaha and think you are a spokesperson for the town when you're not from here. I'm sure no one else in the country really cares about womens volleyball and I bet 16,000 of those fans last night don't either but are just there cause it's Nebraska and it's the "place to be." I'm sure more than 80% of those fans are Creighton fans too which again makes no sense. Hey great game last night by the purple aces. I'm sure in Matt and Creighton fans' mind that Evansville is a good team cause they competed for 5 mins with UNC. Look out Mo Valley...here comes the mean and bad purple aces!

I watched the volleyball game on the tube. Is Penn State's coach a pompous ass, or is he just the cool, calm and collected?? Having never seen him coach before, his mannerisms for the occasion just seemed peculiar.

I talked to his wife at Barly's after the game and couldn't get up the gumption to ask her. A sweet lady.
