Congrats to Turner!

Man, what a win by Buffalo. 5 turnovers forced - 2 returned for touchdowns. 42-24 over No. 12 Ball St! I'm here to admit it - I was wrong to say that Turner wasn't ready for the Nebraska job because after watching that team win the MAC - I think he's ready for Auburn. I didn't believe that until watching the game on Friday night but if you missed his postgame speech....here it is. ALL CLASS - that's what Turner Gill is:

Congrats to Turner for winning the MAC Title. He's done a really good job turing cellar dweller Buffalo around.

I don't know if he's ready for Auburn yet though, that's a different kind of animal.

Guess he'll find out if he gets hired.

Now that's a good blog, Matt!

Turner is all class. A year ago, I was really hoping Nebraska would hire Turner, but Bo was a very close 2nd.

Turner will do well anywhere...even at Auburn. But you know what, Tuberville did pretty well there too when you stop and think about it. I'm no so sure I would take that job if I were Turner, especially with the even more unreal expectations now that Saban is in the same state coaching their hated rival.

This guy has a shot to be a big-time coach. I'm very pleased the huskers didn't get him!

i will agree - Auburn is a different kind of animal...but I think Turner is a different kinda coach. However, I still think AU will do everything they can to get a hold of Muschamp from Texas. After that - maybe. Yet, I am surprised that Syracuse is most likely going to hire Skip Holtz...I think Turner would be best there.

Good thing Gill didn't play basketball.

The only problem with Turner going to Auburn is that he has both class and integrity. As such, he will have a hard time recruiting against his SEC peers. Because, in SEC country, recruits expect $$. If you are unwilling to compromise your integrity, you basically become Vandy.

I understand what I am about to say will cause several angry responses. However, I believed a year ago as I believe now that Nebraska should have hired Turner Gill. Im not one of these hire from the program people either. Turner is an expert recruiter, great offensive coordinator (did you see how multiple Buffalo's offense was), great leader, has character second to none, and I think would have been a better fit. Now everybody is going to say "we needed a defensive mind". My response is that Turner would have been able to bring in a great D-Coord(most likely the guy from Cleamson). Also, Buffalo played Mizzou closer than Nebraska did. Watching the MAC championship game gave me a sick feeling that T.O. passed over the coach would would have given Nebraska the best chance to return to prominence.

I think everyone would agree that what Gill did this year at Buffalo dwarfs what Pelini did this year at Nebraska. Hands down.
