35-30 Nebraska loses to Virginia Tech

That was my angle for the Suh hit on QB Tyrod Taylor of Tech....not great but it looked like he fell on him to me.....

I DVR'd the game and I have watched the play about 10 times now. Momentum clearly forced Suh out by momentum of the play. That's a non-call by nearly every official out there. ACC refs getting down and dirty there.

That said, we may not have been able to control the first BS call and I don't blame Pelini for getting after the officials, but we did control the other two.

Whatevs, game over. We need to get better before we hit the field with Mizzou.

What's exciting is that game could be the start of a four game losing streak.

Let the nebraska-fan meltdown begin!

Right. You keep thinking that, sc_cy. This coming from a fan of a team that lost to Iowa who, in turn, just recently lost to FREEKING Northwestern!

Not to mention, ISU losing to that powerhouse UNLV.

You haven't beat Nebraska since 2004...that isn't going to change this year, either.

So you don't think nebraska has any shot at losing to Iowa State in Ames, huh?

Why is it such a news flash to nebraska fans that
a)nebraska has fallen very dramatically and
b)the competition has gotten better recently

Gone are the days when Iowa State fans look at their schedules and chalk up huge losses to nebraska. 10 years ago we were happy to keep the score within 40. Now it's a disappointment if ISU doesn't win against nebraska. It's not a knock against the huskers, it's just the way it is.

You obviously agreed with my post enough to concede the Missouri and Texas Tech games. Would you have imagined that 10 years ago?

I never conceded Missouri and/or Texas Tech. I simply went directly for what you were driving at...that you thought Nebraska would lose to ISU.

And I've never been one to make predictions on scores, so I wouldn't go so far as to predict a huge win, huge loss or whatever.

I just know that Nebraska is a better team than ISU, despite your claim of them having "fallen dramatically."

Also, while the competition may have gotten better, ISU isn't one of them. Otherwise, you would have thought ISU would have beat Nebraska more recently than 2004.

Of course, going back further...ISU only beat Nebraska in 2002 and 1992 as far as recent memory goes.

Give it up. It's a good thing ISU plays Baylor a week before they play Nebraska. Well, at least, you'd better hope you're on a 1-game winning streak instead of a 4-game losing streak by then.

At least with Baylor, no one can say that ISU is the 12th best team in the conference...only the 11th best...

If the Iowa State game was in Lincoln I'd say Nebraska would feel pretty good about the game. Being that the game is in Ames...all bets are off.

I wish I could go to that game this year. The Cyclones might not be that good but the two times I've been there have been amazing tailgates.

Steve - last time I checked, tailgates didn't win games. ;-p

It did the two times I was in Ames! I'm 0-2 there. I went in both '02 and '04 but missed the '06 game. Unfortunately I'll be there this season...

I can smell the tailgate now...

so much anger and hostilities. personally, i don't start talkin smack until basketball season. how many days till it starts again?

Having any doubts about the huskers going into Ames now? The Cyclones didn't win (in fact they really blew it) but they fought punch-for-punch with Kansas. It was really a great game.

sc cy, those were both pretty embarassasing losses. AS a fan, what is more painful to watch, a blown 20 point lead or a or a near 40 point blow out? Both at home. I'm gonna have to say the NU loss. At least you guys had a chance.

Good points, Wes134. It was frustrating to watch KU come back the way they did. It's amazing how we felt leaving the game Saturday. Yes, everyone was disappointed and a little ticked off but you could actually see the team really gelling. Both teams played well. Both teams are coached well...really well.

Considering most of the 2-deeps are Freshman and Sophomores I like the direction the 'Clones are headed.

Wow - ISU *loses* to Baylor, 38-10?

I take back what I said in an earlier post about Baylor being the 12th best team in the conference. Looks like they've been supplanted.

Good for Baylor.

Oh, and sc_cy...didn't see your October 5th / 2:09 PM post until now.

You asked, "Having any doubts about the huskers going into Ames now?"

Considering that ISU blew a 20-pt lead to Kansas last week, lost by a good amount to *cough* BAYLOR *cough* today AND that Nebraska played some really good football against the Red Raiders...

None. None whatsoever.

SC Cy said...

I knew it! How typical..where were you after last week? I hope you think you'll stroll into Ames with a win. What that should have done is made you concerned about Baylor going into Lincoln.

Sorry, sc_cy...unlike you, perhaps, I don't visit this blog very often. It doesn't seem like it is updated often enough to check in regularly.

I'm surprised, too, since with the Huskers losing their last two games and the resident Husker hater / Bluejay lover, you'd think there'd be even more posts regarding the topic.
