Ouch

Well hello from Boston. And OUCH for the Jays last night. A 2 point loss on the road at Little Rock is not going to sit well and shouldn't for that matter. However, the bigger issue isn't the loss - it's the way the team lost.

Yes, it is a bad loss on the road but it's just one loss in the non-conference. Last year's loss to Evansville was more embarrassing in my opinion since LR is a tough little team and the Jays were at their place. Shoe in on the other foot for scheduling and it will interesting to see if Dana ever goes back there. It was a lose-lose situation....they lost lost.

The team might have overlooked them but that happens in college basketball. Hell, the LR fans rushed the floor!? The Jays aren't even close to being ranked. They were 22-11 last year and beat 2 teams on the road including Pepperdine this year. Hopefully for CU's RPI, they will go the NCAA's out of their 1 bid league. But getting outboarded by 20 and 25-9 in the 2nd half! Damn, now that is the problem - not the loss.

It won't matter much against Nebraska on Saturday because both teams lack size but the fight you must have to win on the road at places like Lincoln, Southern, Wichita, Drake etc was not shown last night. Dana in his history is only 9-6 at CU in his first true road game. This is not A-Typical for the Jays.

Saturday night- the team better bring their heart with their sneakers this time.

Matt, are you ill?? This actually looked like objective media on your part. Then again, your hands were pretty much tied.

Matt says himself that he's not a "sport journalist", so he doesn't have to be objective. I guess that means he's a blogger on an AM radio show team.

Hey Matt! Can you believe that Doc Sadler said that Creighton is not a big game on his post game radio show. He also stated winning against Texas and KU means more. I'm sure that will get you fired up and ripping on Doc like always. I'm sure Creighton lost last night cause they didn't play well not cause AK Little Rock was better as I'm sure will be the case on Saturday when the bluejays get beat again.

Can you believe the audacity of Doc Sadler. To think that Doc believes that playing the national champions is a bigger game than Creighton makes my skin crawl. How could he possibly say that. The Creighton game is THE defining moment of our basketball season.

Matt Perrault said...

No, Doc is trying to down play the game vs. Creighton in case he gets killed again. It's all gamesmanship...and covering one's ass since he's getting killed with High School talent in the state...what else is he going to say? That's fine - CU knows how big of a game it is...and it is VERY big to Dr. Tom - trust me.

I guess your boy P is still the same P. I thought he was supposed to be a changed P, a more mature P.

How's it go? It's just P being P.

sublime_fan27 said...

What high school talent? There hasn't been any of that here in a long time.

Important to Dr. Tom? OK, dude. I'm sure Doc Sadler is on the hot seat with Dr. Tom because he's 1-1 against Creighton.

Creighton can keep thinking how big of game it is for them, they are probably right. Nebraska is one of the best teams they will play all year. Meanwhile, Creighton is probably the 8th or 9th best team Nebraska will face all year, and we will play some of those teams more than once.

Can you remind me again, which Nebraska high school's Creighton's relevant players came from again?

P'Allen from P'Elkhorn?
Carter from Weeping Water?
Cavel Witter from Sandy Creek?
Booker Woodfox from Wahoo?
Kenny Lawson from Lincoln Southeast?
Kenton Walker from Omaha Westside?

I'm sure if Creighton wins Doc's going to be kicking himself because Barry Collier didn't offer Josh Dotzler a scholarship as a High School Sophomore like Dana did.

In-state talent? Seriously?? LOL

sublime_fan27 said...

Hey now, Josh Dotzler is big-time Division 1 talent. That kid can drive the lane, bury open shots, and is quicker than a lightning bolt! You're right, Doc Sadler is probably having nightmares of what Josh Dotzler is going to do to Sek Henry and Cookie Miller Saturday night. In fact, didn't Metallica write a song about the uber-talented Nebraska native Josh Dotzler? "Until It Sleeps" I believe. He's just a beast.

In reality, the Creighton game is just a dime in bucket for Nebraska. Unlike Creighton, Nebraska plays in a conference where a 9-7 or 10-6 record can get you to the big dance.

The game is big only in the sense that it gives the fans something to talk about.

Matt Perrault said...

So who's RPI has been better over the past 10 years? You don't realize the Jays have won 8 of the last 9 regular season meetings right? You do remember that Dr. Tom worked at CU before going back to NU?

Keep that mind people as your coach brushes this game aside because he's afraid that he's going to lose it again.

And the Big 12 isn't expected to get more than 4 teams in the dance this year...You guys seem to brushing off the Jays after 1 game - long, long season to go

beav said...

Before you start spouting out that Creighton has won 8 of the past 9 games, you need to remember that Barry Collier was there for those first 7. Apathy reigned under Collier. Sadler is 1-1 verses Altman. And more importantly, Sadler is not as overly impressed with Altman as a coach as Collier was. Altman is a good coach, but they are playing ball in Lincoln. And guess what Creighton fans, Nebraska is not going to play the style of basketball CU fans like. NU will play agressive, in your face basketball. Sometimes some elbows may be thrown........but thats basketball.

Matt Perrault said...

Or that's a hacking team....which they are.

beav said...

That's a smear. Nebraska had 14 personal fouls against SLU. Creighton had 15 against Arkansas Little Rock. You tell me which team hacks. Actually, look at Josh Dotzler. Everyone says he is a "great" defensive player. Talk about a player who hacks. He has already had 2 games with 4 fouls (which is alot for point guards). Look at Josh's statistics from last year. Calling Nebraska a team that hacks is not only untrue but is totally hypocritical nonsense from Creighton fans.

Keep living in the past cause that's all you are going to be able to talk about this year...CU is set to have a fun year and NU is just going to play out their schedule.

Matt,

Above is your response to me from your "It's November Basketball is Back" piece on your blog. It's funny how every post you've made in this thread references past meetings. This, coupled with labeling Nebraska hackers despite how close CU and NU's foul count is this year make you both a hypocrite and ignorant.

Matt Perrault said...

I will say it again...it's 1 LOSS. Let's just wait and see how Saturday goes

Matt how do you keep a straight face while posting so much b.s.?

First of all, Doc Sadler has bigger things to worry about than the Creighton University Tooljays. Secondly, RPI is only something mid-majors talk about to make their penis’ feel bigger. I will agree with you, Dana Altman dominated Barry Collier. Congratulations, so did a ton of other college basketball coaches during his 7 years of horribleness. Dr. Tom’s “employment” at Creighton doesn’t mean anything here. Doc Sadler could lose the next 5 games in the series to Dana “Staying Classy” Altman and it wouldn’t matter. What matters is how he competes in the Big 12 and if he can take this Nebraska team dancing. The world of college basketball does not revolve around Creighton. Coaches are not hired and fired based of playing a team who’s never made the Sweet 16. The sooner you get that through your head, the sooner you may be competent at your job.

Big 12 is not as good as they were last year, that is true. They will get more than 4 teams in this year, I can promise you that. Meanwhile, the MVC is a one bid league this season. The only way they are getting 2 bids is if their top team doesn’t win the MVC tourney.

Losing to Arkansas-Little Rock may be horrible, but that game really means nothing come Saturday. Nor does that game define Creighton’s season, just like the Creighton game doesn’t define Nebraska’s season.

Matt,

I'm sure Dr.Tom is really keeping a close eye on Doc when it comes to this series. Dr. Tom knows that Sadler will consistently beat Creighton under Sadler and knows there are much bigger fish to fry than Creighton just like Sadler. Creighton is Creighton and Kansas is Kansas, who is a more important game do you think? Take a deep breath and think this out logically, who is the more important game? MVC or Big 12, hmm, that's like comparing the MAC to the Big 12 in Football.

Matt Perrault said...

Fine but don't you have to win a few of those games before you say the game is not relevant? You guys seem to want to dismiss this game but you fail to see how big it is to those involved. Trust me, it matters a lot in Lincoln. 8 of last 9 regular season match ups? It's only 1-1 and if Dana wins without P and Carter in Lincoln? You think that won't matter? Now, you are just being dumb.

rocket said...

Great work Matt, you really know how to break down a match up without letting your biased opinions get in the way. If some one disagrees with you, you call them dumb. SpinSports590 seems to have a better grasp on reality and he doesn't even have his own radio show, imagine if he did!

Matt who wins the battle between Creighton and the Celtics at a neutral site? Just want to see how much b.s. you are full of? Please comment with out studdering.

sublime_fan27 said...

Again, that was against Barry Collier.

Who's it going to matter to, Matty? Doc Sadler is nowhere ther perverbial "hot seat". He's at least 2 bad seasons away from any of that talk.

Without P and Carter? In Lincoln? Sounds like you are the one making excuses, not us.

I find it hillarious that all these sweater-vested, collar popped Bluejay fans are calling P'Allen "P". The kid is a pouty thug. He doesn't have an ounce of class in his entire body.
