There's A New No. 1 In Town!!

I can't talk about numbers on line as it's against the laws of radio to do so and my company could get sued if I did. But I can tell you that "The Big Show with Matt Perrault" is now Number 1 in the Omaha market for sports and Number 1 overall in the key male demographic!!!!

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has spread the word about the show and for listening every day. It took 3 years to do it but we climbed the mountain and now it's time to try to stay there. A lot of hard work goes into the show and Brian Delehant doesn't get enough credit for putting up with my ass everyday. The new additions to the show (Huskers Monday panel, Travis Justice etc) have really helped spring board us up and hopefully we will just keep on growing....

Big Sports 590 had a tremendous ratings book as well and our station continues to be one of the fastest growing stations in the Midwest. Thank you to everyone and let's keep it going!!

So BeanBoy I guess congrats are in order so.........Congratulations!!!

So in honor of this I'm gonna tell you what's made you a HIT here..

Honesty- You came in and told it like it was, whether some folks liked it or not, on the Cornhuskers, the Jays, and the stadium thing.

Integrity- 3 examples for this:
1. You're calling out of the "other guys" during the football season.
2. The way you continue to try to push basketball even though you must know IT WILL NEVER BE BIGGER THAN FOOTBALL HERE. (had to get that off my chest)
3. Sticking to your guns on the Rosenblatt fiasco and urging others, no matter what side, to continue in their voicing of INTELLIGENT opinions.

Travis and Team- I hope you're taking them all out tonight. Travis is your balance from 4to6, and Brian has to have nerves of steel because I would have pulled a Sprewell and choked your ass long ago. Let alone he's gotta deal with us.

So in retrospect, yeah you're annoying as hell sometimes, but you're slowly losing those EC tendencies. So keep it up Matt!!

Just think how much ahead the Big Show would be if it was "All Trav, all the Time!". Congratulations Travis!

Just exactly what "key male demographic" are you talking about? Males who like Creighton?

Please explain to me the following, then:

AQH Share* for Persons 12+, Mon-Sun 6AM-Mid

Spring 2007
-----------
KOZN - 2.6
KXSP - 1.2

Summer 2007
-----------
KOZN - 2.9
KXSP - 1.1

Fall 2007
---------
KOZN - 3.2
KXSP - 2.2

Winter 2008
-----------
KOZN - 2.0
KXSP - 2.0

Spring 2008 isn't released until mid-June.

At best, you're tied with the competition, the way I see it.

- - -

*What Is AQH Share?

Average Quarter-Hour Persons (AQH Persons)
The average number of persons listening to a particular station for at least five minutes during a 15-minute period.

Share
The percentage of those listening to radio in the Metro who are listening to a particular radio station.

[AQH Persons to a Station / AQH Persons to All Stations] x 100 = Share (%)

I guess I don't understand why Arbitron would release ratings as a whole, but not make public the specific demographics that you're touting.

Doesn't make sense to me.

Perrault said: "We don't care about kids or women."

We've known that you haven't cared for women for quite sometime now.

$130 jeans and popped collars pretty much seals the deal.

Also, as I drove home from work today and listened to the competition...I noticed that, as they came back from a commercial, the introduction tag mentioned "Omaha's #1 afternoon sports radio show" (or something similar to that).

If your show is #1, wouldn't they need to cease playing that?

I'm just curious about all of this, which explains the multiple postings.

How in the world can the number one sports talk show in the Omaha market not stream?

FYI - I have been told to remove any direct reference to numbers by our company. I apologize for having to delete it but we can talk in general about the shows numbers but nothing specific due to Arbitron rules.

Matt,

I've missed hearing you spout off about Creighton basketball since the NCAA Tournament * finished up and didn't want to wait for you to post something stupid (like taking your sister shopping) so pardon the irrelevance to the original topic. (* A tournament that Arkansas went to by the way without Altman)

Running through the numbers, I can see that Creighton baseball games played at Rosenblatt bring in 6 and 7 times as many fans as those played at the CU Sports Complex when the Huskers aren't in town. Including last Friday when a mere 217 die hard Jays fans showed up..... for a conference game???? I think I saw that many people at the church auction I was at two weeks ago.

What an interesting parallel to Jays basketball huh? It all goes back to beer sales and "where can I be seen". Looks like Doc Sadler hit the nail on the head.

By the way, when the University of Creighton publishes their season attendance average, I would expect to see an * by it since that number is exceedingly inflated by home games against Nebraska where the attendance was about 10,000 & 15,000 comprised much more heavily by Nebraska fans.

Keep tooting your own horns Jays fans; the numbers don’t lie and with basketball season just about 5 months away, it's probably time to be getting your suits dry cleaned and shirts pressed for the home games at the Qwest.

Last time I checked there were 81,000 football fans....barely an average of 5,000 baseball fans...what the hell are you talking about? Apples to apples? Please, wrong sport

Who said anything about football??? I sure didn't.

I was, obviously, talking about the two games at Rosenblatt this year against Nebraska where the attendance was 10,000 and 15,000 made up heavily of Husker fans you dolt!!!

And if you average these 2 numbers with Creighton's other home games at the Blatt, it averages out to 5,000 versus the 200+ which have showed up for a number of the game at the CU Complex; thin numbers Matt; about at thin as the student section at the Qwest during Creighton/Rhode Island post season game. Weak!!

Hold on, let me see if I can find a bright enough crayon and I'll draw you a picture so that you can understand.
